As part of our package we had Disney’s Quick Service Dining Plan, we opted for the Quick Service plan as it seemed better suited to our overall plans.
As part of the deal, you get 2 Quick Service Meals and 2 Snacks per person, per day plus one refillable resort cup which you can refill throughout your stay at any of the machines in any of the Disney Resorts.
The Quick Service Meal allows you to have any entrée (main course) on the menu at most of the quick service locations located in the parks, all the resort hotels and selected places at Disney Springs. You also get a drink (tea, coffee, soda and new in 2018 if you’re over 21 you can also have alcohol with your meal with a choice of pretty much any of the drinks on the locations menu).
The Snack option covers things such as bottles of water, fruit, soft drinks, tea & coffee (including at Starbucks), muffins, other pastries, ice cream, funnel cakes and sorbet!
Since neither of us usually has breakfast we tended to use one of our snack entitlements to pick up a muffin/pastry wherever we happened to be in the morning – I strongly recommend Boardwalk Bakery at the Boardwalk as their muffins are amazing! You can also use your refillable resort mug for tea/coffee/juice if you want!
One of the mornings when we wandered over to Disney Springs we discovered that you get a great deal using your Meal Plan at Earl of Sandwich, where for your plan you get your sandwich, a cookie/muffin/salad/any side under $5 and a drink.
Your meal plan can be used at any of the resorts, if you’re a first-time visitor we definitely recommend leaving the parks in the evening, popping over to one of the resorts, having dinner and then heading back to the parks otherwise you get a tad fed up of the burgers, chicken nuggets and pizzas.
Using your unused Meal and Snack options
We spent 13 days at the Walt Disney World Resort and between the two of us had 52 Meals and 52 Snacks to use. Needless to say, we struggled to use them all despite buying meals for some friends and we still had 14 meals and 12 snacks left on our last day. It doesn’t seem to be advertised anywhere, although any cast member will tell you if you ask, that you can use your leftover snacks to purchase candy from Goofy’s Candy Co at Disney Springs – as well as in your resort hotels general shop.
You can also convert your unused Meal options to Snacks, you receive 3 snacks for each meal you convert. We ended up leaving with 2 large carrier bags full of candy from Goofy’s and we still hadn’t used all our allowance up – we would have got more but we had no room left in our suitcases!
You can also use your Quick Service plan to have breakfast or lunch at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom although bookings in advance are essential but it’s well worth it and is something we’ll write about soon!
What We Thought
We received the Disney Dining Plan as part of an incentive to book early with Walt Disney Travel Company in the UK so for us, it was definitely worth it as buying meals when staying at the Disney Resorts quickly builds up.
