I feel privileged to have worked in EPCOT during the Food and Wine Festival and also Flower and Garden. However Festival of the Arts is relatively new – this year is its second year I believe – and I didn’t really have any expectations. I was genuinely happily surprised with the offering Disney had created and felt it really enhanced the park’s atmosphere.
I can’t say I’m a big Art lover in general but that’s what I found nice about the festival, it wasn’t in your face but quite understated. As with food and wine, there were additional stalls and stands throughout World showcase. These included tasty treats with an Art theme and a variety of Art with Disney or Cultural themes.
The festival had photo opportunities set up in each country which were good fun and the entrance and area near the central fountain in future world also had themed photo opportunities. It really felt like you could make as much or as little as the Festival depending on your personal tastes. For example, concerts were staged at the America stage, whilst we were there the acts included performers directly from the Broadway stage – so definitely not disappointing. They also had like a giant paint by numbers set up close to Canada which changed from Figment to the world famous monorail during our vacation.
I loved the Disney artwork available. There was such a variety on offer and some of the stuff felt exclusive but was really affordable. They did different sizes of the prints and a lot of the artists were at the park to sign their work and answer questions.
Epcot has to be one of my favourite parks to just chill out in and enjoy the atmosphere. I love it’s two different things sides, the fact that Future World has fun rides whereas World Showcase is somewhere you can grab a drink or bite to eat and walk around taking everything in – I like the shops too. Festival of the Arts added a new dimension to the park for me and I’d love to go and experience it all again… maybe next year!
