- Hidden Mickeys of the Disney Dream – Your Stateroom
You might have heard people talking about “Hidden Mickeys” in relation to the parks, for those not in the know – Disneys Imagineering Team (yes – they have their own team called Imagineers who design pretty much everything in the resorts, including the ships) tend to incorporate the Mickey logo into their designs, some of these are definitely not so “hidden” whereas others are very discreet and unless you either know it’s there or are looking very closely you’ll never see it.
Having worked on Disney Dream for 2 years I can assure you there are lots onboard the ship and in this post, I’m going to point out the ones which are located in most of the staterooms.
Number 1: Desk Drawer – The round silver handle on the small drawer located in the desk is the most obvious of the hidden mickeys – fun fact; this handle is also found inside the bathrooms of the crew cabins.
Number 2: Shower Curtain – Both the outer fabric shower curtain and the inner plastic curtain have the same Mickey pattern on them. On the outer fabric curtain, the Mickey is made from the gold lace, whereas if you look closely at the plastic inner curtain you’ll see the same outline faintly marked on the curtain.
Number 3: Bedside Lamp – The lamps located on the wall on both sides of the bed have the Mickey decal round their base. The lamp shades also indicate the location of all Disney Parks around the world with little castle icons and the main Disney Cruise Line cruising areas are marked by silhouettes of the ships which cruise there.
Number 4: Dressing Table / Desk Light – The light located above the mirror at the desk also features the Mickey decal around the metal on both ends of the white tube.
Number 5: Your Bed Spread – The bed covers feature the Disney Cruise Line logo faintly on them, the logo itself contains the Mickey decal – this is also the same for all the towels.
There’s plenty more around the ship, including other little details that aren’t immediately obvious – let us know which ones you’ve spotted around the ship!
